Biography

Charlie Tak Hei Kwong is a fully funded PhD researcher working across digital media, participatory storytelling, and arts-based approaches to learning and identity. His research explores how narrative and transmedia storytelling can support inclusive participation and identity development, particularly during transitions into higher education. His interest in transmedia storytelling began during his exchange studies at the Fontys Academy for Creative Industries, Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg, the Netherlands.

He later developed these ideas through his MA project Digital Choi Hung, a game-based interactive online archive that uses transmedia storytelling to explore city redevelopment, cultural identity, and collective memory through everyday objects and community narratives.

Charlie has studied and worked internationally, including in Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom. His academic and creative work has been presented and published across the UK, Canada, Australia, South Korea, and Hong Kong.

Alongside his doctoral research, since 2018 he has worked in digital learning and curriculum development in higher education, with a particular interest in participatory practice, creative pedagogies, and inclusive arts education.
